Silverman, Ultimate muscle (Kinnikuman) Custom Action Figure

 Finally time to post one of my creations for my own collection. Done about 7 years ago, restored due to some accident about 5, and now posted :) .

He is the god of defence & peace, and brother of the god of attack and war. He appeared briefly in the Kinnikuman (ultimate muscle) cartoon. I had the extra head of Goldman, and so I did his custom, and having him it was only matter of time to do his brother! as extra, I have made him a shield, as the sword he is given to fight, it would be something he would never carry normally. Also made him a book. Most complex was chroming his mask!

Ramenman ラーメンマン Musculator Musculman

Here is Ramenman, one of the basic characters of Kinnikuman series (on which the MUSCLE figurines were based). I recently discovered that besides the Romando figures existed a 6 inch line for the Kinnikuman Nisei line, so I searched for them and bought Kevin Mask and Ramen Man.

The bad (or good) thing; they needed some work on them. The original figures had unpainted knees and elbows (why on earth was that done I don't know), had a too thick moustache and small flat feet. Besides that, it was the manga version, and I wanted the anime one (only difference being green jacket and sandals). Oh, and the original figure had a too pale flesh tone, so I corrected that too.

Kevin Mask Kinnikuman Nisei custom figure

Here is the other Kinnikuman Nisei figure I bought, Kevin Mask.This one needed more work than Ramenman, I had to resculpt the face as it was too small. I also made the feet bigger, and I opted to repaint the blue with Tamiya Clear to give him a shiny metallic look. I also painted all the details. All the same, if I was a super fan of the character, I would have redone him completely, but as it is a spin-off of his father (the great Robin Mask) I consider good enough this version (I've got hundreds of other customs in mind and in progress!).

Goldman ゴールドマン Kinnikuman MUSCLE custom figure

Here is Goldman, the God of Battle. The legends tells us how he confronted his brother (Silverman, god of peace) to see who was strongest, if him, the God of Battle who was gifted with the perfect attack, or the god of Peace, who was gifted with the perfect defense. After a seemingly eternal battle, the gods decided to give each one a sword, and they ended up in draw cutting simultaneously the head of each other, which became the Gold and Silver Masks, sacred relics of the Kinniku Tribe.


This is the story that is told between two episodes of Kinnikuman. I have added two pics as they can't be found by internet. Goldman ended up being a deal with the demon and returning as Akuma Shogun, who is the main enemy of Kinnikuman in a whole saga. 


About the custom; since I saw the episode I wanted to do this custom. As I had the head sitting around for ages (it came with the Akuma Shogun figure from Romando) half the job was already there. With a wrestling body and some sculpting it was easily made. It was quite hard to represent him, as he appears very little and seems to change in each pic. In some it seems that he wears bronze armour, in others gold, and in others just brown leather. But harder was painting him, as I wasn't satisfied with the skin tone and had to repaint it 3 times. Hope you like it.


The sword has been chromed with an experimental powder, which I'll explain more in depth in a next more chrome custom.

Ricardo ヒカルド Lord of Darkness Kinnikuman Ultimate Muscle custom キン肉マン

 

 

Here it is Ricardo. He is a character from Ultimate Muscle (Kinnikuman Nisei), the new cartoon that spinned off the original series (where the MUSCLE minifigures came from). I discovered this character playing the PSP game Kinnikuman Generations, the first one I played with to get the catch on the game. Afterwards it became a favourite character. I discovered what was his name (the game is in japanese) and decided to customize it in all it's glory (it is painted like in the game, that I suppose is the manga version, as it differs from what I have seen in the cartoon by youtube). (the character is really a monster in disguise, hence the name "Lord of Darkness")

Made over a Wrestling deluxe figure, with a completely sculpted from scratch head. I left unpainted the flesh colour, as it was the same colour and it gives him a nice toy touch.

Kinnikuman the Great キン肉マングレート Kinnikuman Musculator MUSCLE custom

Here is Kinnikuman the Great (キン肉マングレート), a custom made over a Wrestling deluxe figure. It is the second Kinnikuman the Great, when Terryman assumes this identity.

Stereo Ste Casse King Kinnikuman M.U.S.C.L.E. Musculator

This is Stereo (Ste Casse King) from the japanese anime Kinnikuman. In the last pic you can see how was the original figures and the modifications that were made to make it accurate to the anime.

Pentagon Man Kinnikuman M.U.S.C.L.E. Musculator custom

Here there is Pentagon Man, a character from Kinnikuman anime series. There is an official figure made of him but it is small and badly articulated, so I made this version for myself.
