Spider-Man Unlimited (Marvel Legends) Custom Action Figure cartoon

 

I was asked to do this Spider-Man Unlimited custom, to which I was well prepared having watched the series back on it's day and on a good few reruns :) . Not as good as the 1994 Spider-Man cartoon, but still rather iconic. Was asked to use a specific Spider-Man, and then I sculpted some details and repainted. Getting the highlights was the most complex thing! the client said he had back web, so I didn't make him any ;) .

White Tanktop Luke Cage (Marvel Legends) Custom Action Figure

Yet another Luke Cage, similar recipe to previous two, this one in white tank top and a chain to match. In modern comic book style.

the Absorbing Man - Dazzle Power glow in the dark 12 inch - custom 900th! Custom Figure

Here it is! at long last! after much work and efforts, I have mastered the glow in the dark paint in convincing manner! such a feat had to be celebrated, and I decided to make it my custom 900th. At first, many years ago, I thought of doing this custom standard, but I later saw how cool it would be to have it glow in the dark. But I couldn't manage to find a suitable fine, transparent and strong glow in the dark paint, so it got shelved for years on end. But I managed to acquire some 40 year old pot of paint which did the trick! Based on the iconic, even if obscure issue of the Dazzler, where Absorbing Man absorbs Dazzler's mutant augmented ray, and hence he becomes a giant, fuelled by Reed Richards amplifier of Dazzler's power, in form of a tape player. Such extravaganza of science fiction had to be celebrated with a fitting custom figure. Rey Mysterio's Maximum Aggression 12 inches figure looked a unusable figure for any good purpose, but after reading this comic I knew what to do. Not many giants wear long wide jeans! I sculpted it profusely to get the best likeness, made a watch as extra, took chain from a spawn figure, ball from a ping pong ball, tape player made in molten plastic, and painted in fine colour degradations to match the comic's look (inside the pages he is depicted fully green, hence it was perfect the glow in the dark effect). I dedicate this custom to my cousin which sadly passed away last week. May he rest in heaven. Hope you like it, and see you in the custom 1000th ;).

Aries (Marvel Legends) Custom Action Figure

 Another classic Zodiac character, Aries. Made using a Mr. Fantastic. All sculpted head, gloves from Patriot, cloak from Dr. Midnite. Most complex was doing his helmet.

Capricorn (Marvel Legends) Custom Action Figure

 And here is Capricorn, of the vintage Marvel Zodiac. One of the weirdest looking if you ask me lol. I used the Yellowjacket of my collection (it had yellowed - being already yellow! hence his lemon yellow had become in parts a deeper, orangy yellow, perfect for the custom). Head of Mr Fantastic, skirt of Dr. Strange. Main difficulty was getting his eyemask right.

Sagittarius v2 (Marvel Legends) Custom Action Figure

 Here we reach my penultimate Zodiac member, Sagittarius! this time has more articulation thanks to ML gloves, over armour made with plastic to allow some flexibility, and I used a Wolverine head which fits quite well his hair style.

Gemini Zodiac Marvel Legends custom figure

 This is  Gemini, from the Zodiac. One of the most striking characters of the group. I selected carefully black and white parts, to make it as poseable as possible :) .

Virgo Zodiac Marvel Legends custom figure Toybiz

 And here is Virgo, only female member of the Zodiac I've made. Following the classic version, using a now vintage Psylocke. Although much have improved base figures since then, still Psylocke is not that bad figure, and with a skirt, I think it still looks very good. In certain aspects, maybe my best custom of this Zodiac batch.

Pisces Zodiac Marvel Legends custom figure

This is one of the coolest character of the Zodiac, Pisces. Inspired also by glennwebman's version. It's spikes posed a serious challenge, but managed to do them with molten plastic.

 

Red Ghost (Marvel Legends) Custom Action Figure

This time a easy custom, Red Ghost. Classic villain a bit out of it's time now, but a good sample of all the myriad of communistic villains that plagued comicbooks in the 50s-70s!. Typical recipe of Baron Zemo, with lex luthor head.

 

Blue Marvel (Marvel Legends) Custom Action Figure

 A character I've been at the point of doing many times, but never had done till last year. This version is very cool, and the extra strong body suits him very well, as well as the modern Hasbro style.

With alternate head, using a cast of DC green lantern head.

Slither Marvel Legends Custom Figure Serpent Society Hasbro

 This is Slither, a lesser known character of the Serpent Society. Completely unknown to us before doing this custom! another in the batch of the Serpent Society we did last year. This made in a modern Hasbro body, with head hand sculpted.
