Ramrod 13" Transformable! (Saber Riders) Custom Action Figure

Probably, and absolutely, my most complex custom ever. I was asked to do a custom Ramrod, and if possible transformable. I replied that yes, it could be possible, and then embarked in a terrible odyssey, in which many times I thought I couldn't pull it off. The sheer size, weight, and complexity was tremendous. My main error was in choosing the base figure, as I am sure there were many better ones. I went for a Power Rangers Zord, as seemed quite similar, tall as it should have, with a decent price, and not far away. Question is that it was missing key articulations, and I should have found an actual Transformers that could really transform already into something similar. Anyway, after much looking at it, I thought of using DVD cases. Bad thing is that those don't stick to anything man has devised. So I had to sand, and sand, use molten plastic, the lot. I casted the nose of a knockoff Transformers, which ended up being tremendously heavy, using Bionicle parts to move it into place, model kit parts, fodder spice pots for jets, casted tracks from a Montaplex tank, etc. The original had light, so I incorpored that into the design as the character justly had a red light in the middle. Took forever to make. I was months at it, configuring and reconfiguring everything.

Panthro Origins (Thundercats) Custom Action Figure

 And here is Panthro Origins, done with a Skeletor. I was given all the parts, so it was rather straight forward, save for the sanding, which was rather complex. Matching greys can also be a daunting task, as no matter you get it right, once it dries it becomes usually darker, so you have to calculate very exactly the right tone, so the body matched the head.

Jackalman Origins (Thundercats) Custom Action Figure

 Another Thundercats Origins, this time rather easy, Jackalman over a Beastman body. Matching the right colour was the most complicated part! He-Man head is also a custom repaint, which I thought of displaying in a imaginative gory fashion :) .

Vultureman Origins (Thundercats) Custom Action Figure

 And it's the turn for Vultureman. A bit more work here, this time I made his fur overcoat with flexible rubber silicone compound, so it can move and be articulated. Foam for the skirt.

The head I believe comes from some bobblehead, as Vultureman didn't have any savage world figure release.

Monkian (Thundercats) Custom Action Figure

 Here is Monkian, in Origins style, using Savage World parts, to make a superarticulated version. I also made with rubber compound his fur on his back.

Casey Jones Neca 2002 style (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) Custom Action Figure

 This is a quick repaint of the new Neca figure, to be accurate with the 2002 cartoon. Repainted and redid the black cartoony lines.

 

 

Tygra Origins (Thundercats) Custom Action Figure

 As it could not be missing, here is Tygra Origins to further complete the set of my Origins Thundercats customs :) . Using the head of the weird Bandai 8" figure. I used parts from here and there and voilà, Thundercats Origins Tygra.

White Tanktop Luke Cage (Marvel Legends) Custom Action Figure

Yet another Luke Cage, similar recipe to previous two, this one in white tank top and a chain to match. In modern comic book style.

Snowmeow Thundercats Ultimates (Thundercats) Custom Action Figure

After my landmark custom, the rest can keep rolling out! this is Snowmeow, the faithful steed of Snowman, in style of the new Ultimates line. Was asked to do this with a Battle Cat Revelations, which by it's size makes a very good base figure, the cat is simply huge! The challenge here was in thoroughly painting it avoiding paint rub. Being a bright green, covering it with full white, is just about the most nightmaresque thing for a customizer! I was sanding and cutting for ages, and then decided to airbrush it, so the fine layers of paint gripped as well as possible. Used molten plastic and foam for the various details.

Jaga Origins (Thundercats) Custom Action Figure

Here is Jaga, in Origins form. Using parts of the Ultimates figure, using a He-Man figure, sculpting the different details. The base body was left unpainted, and this gives a very nice toy feeling to it.

Gamemaster MOTUC (Masters of the Universe) Custom Action Figure

Here is GameMaster, in full MOTUC style! was asked to do him around February. I had previously done one, many years ago, but with a Wrestling figure, which didn't quite exactly fit very well. Here he is with a MOTUC base figure, Sea Hawk, to fit blendlessly among the collection. Now with the MOTUCs dead, it's time for customs. I did the weapons and pet with molten plastic. Hope you like him.

Heatwave (DC Multiverse) Custom Action Figure

Here is Heatwave, famous enemy of the Flash. A character that just recently got an action figure, but very far off his usual looks. I was asked to do this custom, but the man had unexpected financial troubles on the way, so the custom got stalled and just recently I finished it to auction it. I used a modern ML buck that was halfway to become a White tiger custom, and used a Dr.Midnite head, weapon based on MOTUC Zodac modified. Murmur (DC Multiverse) Custom Action Figure

Here is Murmur, another enemy of the Flash. Another character with quite a few appearances still without proper figure in this world, and there are fewer left every day! just a Heroclix figure to represent it, usual indication that a character is rather important but has been overlooked. This one needed serious engineering; I wanted to do it quickly, so I came by with what I had; a black suit Spiderman body, Black cat's arms,X-23 feet. I was doubting how to do his arm bandages for a very long time, in the end I went for some poly-textile well wrapped, that allows movement while looking good.
